Nopal Cactus (Prickly Pear) Contains Tryptophan (Essential Amino Acid)

(*) See References and Disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

Nopal cactus (prickly pear) contains tryptophan. The brain uses tryptophan to make serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with relaxation. Moreover, tryptophan is responsible for many of the 'chemical messengers' produced by the body and is required for optimal nervous system health(1*). This is an essential amino acid that we must consume daily as the body can not store amino acids(2*).

A small percentage of the tryptophan that we ingest gets converted into niacin which plays a role in metabolizing and converting fats, proteins and carbohydrates into energy(3*), Tryptophan helps to regulate insulin(4*).

Sources of Tryptophan

Asparagus, Beans (green and kidney), Cauliflower, Nuts, and Nopal Cactus (Prickly Pear) from Natural Home Cures Freeze Dried Nopal Powder Capsules (Prickly Pear).
